DNA contains the instructions for making the proteins that our bodies are made from. Our genetic tests will determine if you carry DNA faults that could place you or your family members at risk of developing certain conditions.
What do we test for?

“I’d not received any drastically bad news but there were some elements I should be aware of as I age and some markers that mean I should continue to have regular health checks”
"90 minutes later I emerged out of Elite Medicine’s doors onto Harley Street, armed with my personal report and a determination to lead a healthier life."
– Charles Johnson
“The whole process of the testing had been remarkably easy – and I found the knowledge I gained both before the test and after it, truly fascinating. The doctors take huge care to ensure they have a full history and discuss any elements of your health that you find worrisome”
“In my mind it is always so much better to be forewarned. Knowledge is, as they say, power”
Know about your risk of developing heart conditions. At Elite Medicine, we assess your risk of inheriting heart conditions by analyzing your genetic variants. These include genes that are associated with atherosclerosis (furred arteries), stroke, and heart attack.
An example is arrhythmogenic right-ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) which usually affects teens or young adults. It can cause sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes and is often difficult to diagnose an individual’s risk.
Other examples include: catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and Romano-Ward long QT syndrome
Know about your risk of developing tissue or joint conditions. There are more than 200 heritable disorders of connective tissue (that provide strength to skin, muscles and blood vessels) that can affect your body.
At Elite Medicine, we assess your risk of inheriting certain disorders so that you can make decisions about your health and in some instances, avoid injury. An example is Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue that holds all the body’s cells, organs and tissue together. About 1 in 5,000 people have Marfan syndrome that affects the heart, blood vessels, bones, joints, and eyes.
Know about your risk for developing conditions such as high cholesterol. Elite Medicine is able to analyze your genetics variants for your inherited risk for certain metabolic conditions such as familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).
About one in 250 people has FH, an inherited condition that means their cholesterol levels are higher than normal from birth. This places them at risk of early heart attack.
Know about your risk of developing neurological conditions. Neurogenetic disease is caused by a defect in one or more genes that affects the nervous system and muscles. At Elite Medicine we assess your risk of inheriting certain neuromuscular conditions.
One example is malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a type of severe reaction that occurs to particular drugs used during surgery general anesthesia. Symptoms include muscle rigidity, high body temperature, and a rapid heart rate. Complications can include rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of muscle fibers) and high blood potassium.
